Description
This is a piece of concept art I did for class. It's the first conceptual landscape I've done digitally. I do a lot of sequential illustration, but I'm very interested in concept art as well. As always, comments and critique are very appreciated.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactOne of the first things that caught my eye was the path along the hill that led to the skull. The lanterns that illuminate the path blend smoothly with the dark rocks behind and the light beneath the skull itself gives it a menacing look. The crows coming in from around the side are another nice addition as well.
The lighting is what I like best about this piece as well as the color blending which, for concept art, is executed professionally as seen in the highlights and shadows on the skull and the colors of the clouds in the background.
What this piece seems to lack are some characters, even if it's just a shadow or silhouette of them. Perhaps you might have such a character with a sword drawn, starring down the tunnel in the skull's mouth. That small detail would really enhance the mood of this piece.
